What type of wedding giver are you?
Posted in: Rahny Taylor
I just went to a wedding last weekend and it got me thinking about the different types of wedding givers that there are. Which one are you?
1. The people who follow the gift registry.
This used to be me, but I stopped since I got sick of doubling up gifts with those that would buy off the registry, but wouldn’t get it checked off at the register!
2. The people that give $ or gift cards.
This is me now. People always say that $ is not sentimental, but who can’t use $? It’s great for your honeymoon, or just your new life together! Plus you never have to worry about the wrong size, color, or having too much!
3. The People that do their own thing.
I know you’re thinking that you’re buying something that’s more thought out, or making something etc…but I feel like you could be setting yourself up for failure on this one!
To me it’s like you’re saying that you know the bride & groom better than they know themselves. They’ve taken the time to say, “Hey, I want this!” And you’re saying “No, I’m gonna get you this instead!”
In my eyes all that happens when you give them something they didn’t ask for is that they put it in a closet somewhere, return it if possible, or re-gift it.
And don’t even get me started on the people that go to the wedding and don’t give a gift! The only people that might have an excuse to not give a gift, or give a small one are the ones that are in the wedding!
